The goal of image segmentation is to partition an input image into disjoint subregions satisfying homogeneity and connectivity conditions:
Homogeneity - a region is called homogeneous if all its pixels are homogeneous. Connectivity - a region is called connected if there exists a connected path between any two pixels.
